Benifuki translated from Japanese means “red riches and honor” and this tea certainly upholds that translation! Benifuki Japanese Black Tea is a hybrid originally developed in the mid 60’s from both the Assamica and Sinensis tea plants. The leaf is flat and course with a deep, dark appearance yielding a golden-red cup color.
The flavor and aroma of this tea offer a hint of delicate sweetness rounded off by touch of ripe plum on the finish. This tea is medium bodied with a delightful lingering aftertaste.
Japan is traditional known for producing strong green teas that span the taste spectrum from astringent and vegetal to dark, toasted and malty. This tea is a must try for the green and black tea drinker alike.
